Specialized Primary Care
Your primary care doctor, with the training of an infectious disease specialist. Everything you would see a primary care provider for, in one place.
What Specialized Primary Care means
At OIC Inspired, your primary care provider is a physician or advanced practice provider trained in infectious disease and sexual health. You get the same relationship you would have with any primary care doctor: one provider who knows your history, sees you for your annual physical, treats you when you are sick, manages your ongoing conditions and sends your referrals. The difference is who is sitting across from you.
The word "specialized" comes from the way insurance classifies the visit. Because your provider is a specialist, most plans process it as a specialist visit rather than a primary care visit. That is a billing label. The care itself is complete primary care, delivered by a specialist who also looks for the things a general practice may not.
One provider for your whole health. No need to split your care between a primary care office and a specialist across town. Your checkups, your labs, your prescriptions and your specialist are under the same roof.
Everything you would see a primary care doctor for
Specialized Primary Care covers the visits people make to any family doctor or internist, with a wellness and prevention focus for sexually active adults.
Annual physical & wellness exam
A full yearly checkup, with screenings based on your age, history and lifestyle.
Sick visits
Colds, flu, infections, rashes and the everyday problems you would call your doctor about.
Blood pressure, cholesterol & diabetes
Ongoing management of chronic conditions, with regular follow-up and adjustments.
Routine bloodwork & lab tests
Drawn in our own lab, in the same building, and reviewed with you by your provider.
Vaccines & immunizations
Flu, COVID-19, hepatitis A and B, HPV, shingles, pneumonia and travel vaccines.
Prescriptions & refills
Filled at OIC Inspired Pharmacy on site, so you can leave with your medication in hand.
Preventive screenings
Cancer screenings, sexual health screenings and the tests that catch problems early.
Referrals
When you need a cardiologist, a surgeon or any other specialist, we send the referral and review the results with you. If your plan is an HMO, the primary care provider listed with your insurance is the one who enters the referral in the insurer's system.
Why patients move their primary care to OIC Inspired
Most people who switch to us were already coming here for one thing and realized they could get everything else here too.
A specialist is your primary care provider
Infectious disease physicians and advanced practice providers with more than 25 years caring for adults in Orlando. The expertise other offices refer out to is the expertise you see at every visit.
Lab and pharmacy in the same building
Bloodwork is drawn at OIC Inspired Laboratory and prescriptions are filled at OIC Inspired Pharmacy, steps from the exam room. Fewer trips, fewer phone calls, results in your provider's hands faster.
Care Navigators on your side
Insurance questions, referrals, medication access and cost programs are handled by our Care Navigators, so you can focus on your health, not the paperwork.
Care without judgment
A safe, discreet space where you can talk openly about your sexual health, your relationships and your concerns, and be met with answers instead of assumptions.
Also part of your care
Because your primary care provider is a sexual health specialist, these services are available in the same visit, with no separate referral:
- STI screening and treatment
- PrEP & PEP
- Immunizations & travel vaccines
- Weight loss
- Testosterone & estrogen replacement therapy
- Anal health screening
- Hepatitis screening and treatment
- Education & counselling
FAQs
Can OIC Inspired be my primary care provider?
Yes. Tell us when you request your appointment or at the front desk, and we will set you up with a provider who becomes your primary point of contact for your health. If you already see us for another service, ask your provider at your next visit.
Do I have to be living with HIV to use Specialized Primary Care?
No. Specialized Primary Care is for any sexually active adult who wants primary care with a stronger focus on prevention and sexual health, whether or not they are living with HIV.
How does my insurance handle the visit?
Most plans process visits with our providers as specialist visits, which may mean a different copay than a primary care visit. With an HMO plan, referrals to outside specialists go through the primary care provider listed with your insurance. Check your plan details, and let our Care Navigators know if you have questions. We also offer the Care Access Program for patients who need help with costs.
