Board Member At Large

Richard was introduced to the BOD on June 1st, 2025. He brings a distinguished background in technology, education, and community advocacy. As a retired software designer, Richard helped create foundational systems that transformed industries, including the first “click to buy” platform, early video conferencing tools, and the satellite control system for NASA, which earned him a Congressional Award for Software Excellence.

Beyond his professional achievements, Richard is a world champion ballroom dancer and a pioneering leader in same-sex dance. He is the founding president of multiple LGBTQ+ dance organizations and the founder of April Follies, North America’s first same-sex dance competition. The lifetime achievement award for queer dance is named in his honor. Since 2010, he has been an active member of the Orlando Gay Chorus, using the arts as a platform to champion equity, inclusion, and authenticity.

Richard is a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ health and has mentored students at UCF and Stetson on navigating topics such as sexual health, identity, and personal empowerment. He promotes informed decision-making around PrEP, Doxy-PEP, and U=U, and supports creating spaces for safe and open dialogue.

Richard’s multifaceted experience and unwavering dedication to community wellness make him a powerful asset to OIC Inspired’s mission.
